Medical Assistant Program Overview
Medical assistants work directly with patients and assist in their care and well-being. If you’re interested in pursuing opportunities in this rewarding profession, the medical assistant program can help you develop relevant skills and gain real-world experience.
To help you gain the skills for the medical field, ASA College Certificate certificate program combines online medical assistant classes with hands-on experience in onsite clinicals and an externship.
Hands-on medical assistant training in:
• Administering injections
• Taking vital signs
• Recording EKGs
• Assisting in minor surgical procedures
• Obtaining specimens and laboratory testing
• Performing phlebotomy
Admissions Requirements
You must be a high school graduate or possess a General Education Diploma (GED) to enroll. If you don't have a High School diploma or GED you could enroll into Career Pathway Program for Medical Assisting. Refer to ASA College Catalog or speak to Admission Representative to learn more.
How do I get started?
You still can join the summer semester. The last day to register for Summer Semester is July 17, 2022
Upon completion of the program, you may be eligible to sit for the following exams:
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
• National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
• Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC)
Prepare for Medical Assistant Certifications
TRANSFER CREDITS
Earn credit for prior coursework completed at eligible institutions, including community colleges.
FINANCIAL AID
Title IV federal financial aid is available for many of our degree programs for those who qualify
GRANTS
Learn about federal financial grants and loan programs that may be available for those who qualify
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT'S SCHOLARSHIP
International students are eligible for a up to 50% of tuition scholarship.

Medical Assistant
Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by physician.

Graduate faster. ASA College provides you with an option to have 3 college semesters per 12 month period. That option allows graduating in 16 months if no remedial is required.
Pay Less. You can take up to 18 credits per semester instead of the traditional twelve. Our generous tuition cost policy allows you to pay the same amount of money for up to eighteen credits per semester as for twelve.

ASA College CAAHEP accreditation allows our Medical Assistant program graduates to take CMA exam upon graduation. Major hospitals in New York require CMA certification to consider you for employment. Employment with hospitals allows our graduates to start with a much higher salary than at doctors' offices or clinics.
